Safari Park, a trip into nature between education and entertainment

“One cannot love what one does not know” said the internationally renowned ethologist and popular science writer Giorgio Celli. This quote embeds the mission of Ravenna’s Safari Park: getting to know, understand and love animals by encountering them in a respectful, constructive and interactive way. The park was designed as a place where man meets wildlife and nature, and realizes that all living species have equal dignity.
Here the animal world is approached with a view to teach visitors, especially the younger ones, to appreciate all forms of life through a stimulating and instructive edutainment experience. Families will love this unforgettable learning-through-practice-and-fun opportunity!
Designed to blend in with the surrounding landscape, the Safari Park is one of Europe’s most technologically advanced, zero-impact  zoological and wildlife park. It is a safe haven for its animal guests and promotes the protection and repopulation of endangered species.
Lions, tigers, hippos, giraffes, zebras, antelopes, bison and many others populate the park’s 450,000 sqm area, totalling 450 heads born and raised in captivity, among which several hundreds of heads of 40 wild species that are totally free to roam the park. Even on a rainy day visitors will find plenty of fun-tastic opportunities to quench their curiosity about the animal world in the several areas of the park: additionally to the safari area, come visit the farm, the baboon island, the lemur island, the crocodile area, the reptile house, the educational buildings and the safari village.
Ravenna’s Safari Park also keeps faith to its educational mission by keeping contact with 18,000 schools across Italy and with a dedicated 2,400 sqm area that includes a 350-seat auditorium. 8,400 schoolchildren have attended the several initiatives organized to this date by our highly qualified educationalists, who follow a tailored hands-on approach.
And edutainment is complemented by scientific research – the park has important cooperation agreements with some of the most prestigious Italian and European universities, with the aim of developing programmes and internships to foster the knowledge and protection of wildlife.
